John Stott | “Evangelism is the major instrument of social change. For the gospel changes people, and changed people can change society.”

The Gospel was not given to change society, not even one man at a time. The Gospel was given so that lost men might be drawn to Christ and thereby live eternally to praise and glorify Him. Mr. Stott is too close to the “social gospel” (that is no gospel at all) which leads to universalism.
I think you may have missed the point. Stott’s suggesting that it’s the gospel which changes people and changed people naturally act differently towards each other. The gospel is the only cure to the world’s corruption. That’s quite the opposite to the social gospel…
But I might add – We also pray, “Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Mat. 6:10; See Rev. chaps. 21-22).
