How should we as Christians deal with the evil that will come against us in this world? In this short video clip John Piper presents eight things we should do with evil, and four things we should not do with evil.
Eight things we should do
1. Expect evil (1 Peter 4:12); 2. Endure evil (1 Corinthians 13:7); 3. Give thanks for the refining effect of evil that comes against you (Ephesians 5:20); 4. Hate evil (Romans 12:9); 5. Pray for escape from evil (Matthew 6:13); 6. Expose evil (Ephesians 5:11); 7. Overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21); 8. Resist evil (James 4:7)
Four things we should never do
1. Never despair that evil is out of God’s control (Ephesians 1:11); 2. Never give in to the sense that because of random evil, life is absurd and meaningless (Romans 11:33,36); 3. Never yield to the thought that God sins, or is unjust, or is unrighteous in how He governs the world (Psalm 145:17); 4. Never doubt that God is totally for you in Christ (Romans 8:28)

[...] Oct 26th, 2007 by pjmiller Excellent word from John Piper. Thanks to Symphony of Scripture. [...]
What a tremendous blessing for a pastor with a broken heart. I sometimes feel that there is no one else that is biblically sound preaching the word of God. This short message ministered so much to my heart. What a blessing to here a man of God speaking according to the Bible and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Keep on doing what you are doing. I know that you are not perfect but am sure the Lord will truly bless you and reward you in eternity for taking the stand you have taken.
I truly hope God’s rich blessings of peace and joy remain in your heart always.
